Tuition Assistance Fundraiser
This fundraiser will be going towards our Tuition Assistance Program to help those students attend an Islamic institution without having to worry about the financial burden it may bear. Every student deserves to be in a healthy and engaging Islamic environment that will help push them to become law abiding Muslim citizens with good character. It is our responsibility to make sure that we do everything in our power to get the youth in an Islamic school.
Last year we were able to award over $90,000 towards our tuition assistance program to families with financial constraints. Families that will be receiving donations have already gone through a 3rd party and it was proven that their income is not enough to afford tuition.
Parents want to send their child(ren) to an Islamic school to learn Quran, Islamic Studies and Arabic but unfortunately not everyone is able to afford the cost of a private school. We try to make it as affordable and accessible as possible for our community because we understand the importance of a strong Islamic background and foundation.
Your donations will go towards sponsoring students and making it possible for them to attend an Islamic academy. The money donated will go to families who need tuition assistance. Donating for the sake of knowledge is considered an act of Sadaqah Jariyah because it keeps on giving. When you donate for the sake of education you are investing in the hereafter. We need your help to get as many Muslim students into our school as possible. May Allah reward you for all of your support and efforts.
When Will the Tuition Assistance Program Go Into Place?
The tuition assistance program will help students for the upcoming 2023-2024 school year.
Is My Donation Zakat Eligible?
Yes. Money donated towards the tuition assistance program is counted towards zakat.
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
(Hadith of the Prophet ﷺ, narrated by Muslim)
“When a person dies, all their deeds end except three: a continuing charity, beneficial knowledge and a child who prays for them.”
In this blessed month of Ramadan, where deeds are multiplied by manifolds, we request our parents and community members to consider donating towards Universal Academy of Florida's Tuition Assistance Program.
Ramadan is the time of the year to remember our neighbors, and our brothers and sisters who are struggling and have found themselves in vulnerable circumstances especially due to the continuous economic strain the coronavirus pandemic is exerting upon them.
It is a test given from Allah SWT. It teaches us that "we are all in this together". It teaches us gratitude, patience and sacrifice are the fundamental aspects of believers, and for us to look out for each other. Staying united as a community is extremely crucial to help us deal through these extraordinary times. The pandemic has had a profound impact on the lives and livelihoods of many in our school community. A lot of our school families, especially low-income households, have been greatly suffering from the negative economic impact on their financial standing due to loss of income, or other unanticipated hardships.
Since the pandemic started in Spring 2020, UAF's administration, teachers, and staff members have been working tirelessly to support our students’ learning and well-being in an unprecedented environment. Our teachers went above and beyond to learn new technology tools in order to transition their curriculum online. The school was up and running again in one week. School administration understood how important it was for them to provide consistency and connection to students in a rapidly changing and unpredictable world. Therefore UAF provided multiple options to our families that worked for their family situation. We maintained onsite learning without compromising the learning of those who remained virtual. We were overwhelmed by the unquestionable strength and character of our community. The messages of gratitude acts of generosity, and words of encouragement from our families and community members were all that we needed during these difficult times.
Although the pandemic had a huge toll on our enrollment, with the mercy of Allah swt and our community's support, UAF was able to provide over $80,000 in Tuition Assitance to families that struggled to afford tuition. We provided over 350 Chromebooks to our students to assist with remote learning. With the coronavirus pandemic impacting nearly every aspect of daily life, UAF also introduced and implemented the Free/Reduced fee Lunch program. This initiative was sought to help provide our students with healthy breakfast and lunch and to lessen the burden on our families.
Let's continue to work together, to help one another understand, navigate, and overcome the challenges we are facing. Supporting our Tuition Assistance Program or Sponsoring a Student at UAF is about so much more than making a simple donation to our school. The Mission of the Universal Academy of Florida is to teach the students the principles and practices of Islam and to prepare them for academic success and good citizenship. The commitment to produce bright students who are conscious of Allah and who maintain Islamic character and high academic standards is our priority at UAF. Every single dollar you give today is Sadaqa jariya (continued charity) that will benefit you, your family, and your community in this life and in the hereafter.
Allah tells us in the Qur’an that the reward of spending in charity is like “a grain of corn which grows seven ears, and each ear has a hundred grains” (2:261). Therefore we ask you in this blessed month, to support us and donate so we can continue to provide assistance to those families who need it. No amount is too little and any assistance is greatly appreciated!
Jazakumullahu Khairan Kathiran for your continued support and generosity.
With Sincere Gratitude,
