Assalamu Alaikum Warahmatullah Wabarakato,
Dearest Parents and beloved Students,
On behalf of the staff at Universal Academy of Florida, I am happy to welcome you to the 2020-2021 school year! The opportunity to positively impact every child's school performance and experience in collaboration with the family is a calling I take with great pride.
We look forward to a productive partnership with our families to ensure our children can achieve their highest potential. As partners, we share the responsibility for our children's success and want you to know that we will do our very best to carry out our responsibilities. More than any year, this partnership must be extremely solid.
We ask you to help us help your children setup their workspace at home for a successful launch to the start of the year. As we embark on another quarter of e-learning, it is imperative you provide your child with a quiet environment at home, free of distractions. Students are required to show up to their zoom session on time, with their uniforms on, ready to learn!
We will begin the morning with morning athkar for a great headstart, inshaAllah.  Students will then sign in to their homerooms for morning meeting and attendance. This year, we are increasing our social and emotional health awareness. Therefore, we are happy to introduce our new Social and Emotional Learning Curriculum called Responsive Classroom.  Responsive Classroom is a student-centered, social and emotional learning approach to teaching and discipline. It is comprised of a set of research, and evidence-based practices designed to create safe, joyful, and engaging classrooms and school communities for both students and teachers.
I pray to Allah swt to guide and help us get through this pandemic safely and protect us and our children. Please remember our doors are always open for any feedback or concerns. Below is the contact information for all of administration:

Assalamu Alaikum Warahmatullah,

Dearest Parents, Students and Staff,
I pray this finds you in great health and Imaan, inshaAllah.
We would like to remind you this Saturday, August 15, 2020 is the Parent Orientation for all families. We will meet as a whole school at 11:00 am on a zoom conference. Afterwards, you will get an opportunity to sign into the individual zoom links to meet each of your child(ren)'s teacher for this year. We will provide you with all the links later this week before the orientation.
As of recent, there has been a lot of delays and setbacks due to Covid. Deliveries of school curriculum and Chromebooks are in high demand in a time where most vendors were downsized and/or not working onsite; and therefore delaying our shipments.
We did everything in our will to stick to our initial start date; but considering the abnormal circumstances we must embrace the setback and act accordingly for a smooth transition into the school year.
Therefore, on August 20th and 21st we will have a trial run and provide the students with a schedule to follow throughout the day. The trial run will test the students connections; devices; practice to signing on and off of zoom; signing on to Google classroom; setting up their virtual logins to the curriculum, and meeting each of their teachers following the flow of their new schedule.  The official first day of school will be Monday, August 24th., InshaAllah. We believe this is the best way to resolve any issues that may come up before the official first day.
A book pick up schedule will be sent out later this week. We appreciate your patience throughout this process. Our teachers and staff are working hard for a smooth launch to the year! We are so excited to welcome everyone back to the year 2020-21 and we cannot wait to finally see our young scholars!

Dear Parents,

Assalaamu alaikum wa RahmutAllahi wa Barakaatuhu

Thank you for patiently waiting to hear about our school reopening plans. As we're still dotting the i's and crossing the t's, I wanted to keep you all updated.

Our goal is to bring the students on school campus as soon as possible. However, after surveying our parents and staff, countless admin and board meetings, and consideration of WHO and CDC recommendations, it was decided to continue with virtual learning for the first quarter of the school year (with the exception of PRE-K & KG having on-site options). Every day, as the numbers of cases increase, death and otherwise, the safest decision is to offer a strong, much improved and enhanced virtual program. The safety of our staff, students, and their families is our priority.

1. Many schools across the nation that planned to return at 100% capacity or hybrid decided that it wasn't the safest decision and reverted back to virtual.

2. As cliche as it sounds, we're living in unprecedented times. Opening the school doors only to face the possibility of an outbreak, or a mandatory quarantine will cause too many academic disruptions. Having a strong virtual program provides our students with the stability and consistency they need without the possibility of any disruptions in the school year.

3. After the 1st quarter, our goal is to phase in our students back into the classrooms. We will reassess the situation in 9 Weeks, and if the situation is gradually improving, we will start opening our doors to our students, InshaAllah.

1. A schedule will be organized for meeting times.

2. All communication will be streamlined to one place (most likely google classroom) for clear instructions.

3. Instruction will continue to take place on Zoom and Google classroom.

4. More laptops will be available for families to ensure equal opportunity for access.

5. All students are expected to appear on camera with uniforms

6. Only PREK & KG will have an onsite option. There will be a lot of space for them to maintain their social distancing and practice strict safety protocols.

Please see the attachment to review the unique virtual learning experience at UAF. As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out.

Note: if things drastically improve before the start date we will reach out to you again to reassess.
